3D Dropout:The flat seatstays flow – without changing their cross-section – into the chainstays. Therefore they cross the dropout to enable a stiff and extremely rigid fitting of the back wheel. Thus the back wheel is mounted in its own frame. Higher lateral stability and higher riding comfort at the same time – the result of 3D dropout technology.
Bottom Bracket (Oversized): The oversized bottom bracket design enables optimal large-sized chain stay, seat tube and down tube connection, providing more direct conversion of pedal forces. FOCUS achieves crease-free and controlled manufacturing by producing all frames including the bottom bracket in one piece. The core bearing housing is then bonded in after hardening to ensure trueness. The BB30 system complements the hollow chamber technology by using an oversized shaft and oversized industrial bearings. The frames are lighter, stiffer and more efficient. BB30 also allows more room for rider’s feet - the crucial Q-factor.
Carbon dropout: Even lighter and stiffer than dropouts made of aluminium, FOCUS Carbon Dropouts are highly compressed and strengthened according to anticipated load
Carbon layup; The use of high-quality carbon fibres means the FOCUS Izalco 2010 boasts improved levels of rigidity and is a whole 150g lighter. A newly developed processing procedure and a specialised resin enables crease-free and particularly smooth carbon processing on the inner frame. Despite the reduction in wall thickness the frame actually increases its rigidity. Safety first: FOCUS don’t use high-modular fibres in the whole frame. In some areas, where required for security, endurance high-ductile fibres are used instead.
Tapered seattube: The conical tapered seattube adds both rigidity and comfort. Beginning at the 27.2mm seatpost and ending at the BB30 bottom bracket.
Tapered headtube:The conical tapered headtube assures the highest precision in handling and best braking performance available.
